VICTORIA, Seychelles – Members of Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 visited the Seychelles Defense Force Headquarters and Regional Coordination Operation Center (RCOC), May 16-17.

The CTF 151 members, led by Brazilian Navy Rear Adm. Antonio Braz, discussed the Seychelles contribution to counter-piracy and maritime safety, as well as the rise in piracy-related incidents in the Western Indian Ocean and how to counter this new spike.  

Braz thanked the Chief of Seychelles Defence Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette, for his country’s support to CMF and CTF 151. Encompassing information sharing provided by a Seychelles Air Force Maritime Patrol Aircraft, their support in maritime security enhancement training activities and taking part in focused operations. 

Braz also visited with the RCOC director, Capt. Sam Gontier, and discussed the RCOC’s possible participation in CMF activities, to build up/strengthen legal information in the future.

CMF and CTF 151 are committed to strengthening relationships with other organizations operating in the maritime domain, promoting cooperation and the intelligent sharing of resource.
