From Combined Maritime Forces Public Affairs

On the morning of 10th March, Combined Task Force (CTF) 151, led by the Brazilian Navy, received an honorable visit from the crew of the Japanese Ship Sazanami.

This visit provided a unique opportunity for the JS Sazanami crew members and the staff officers to carry out a valuable exchange of knowledge and experiences, promoting a deeper understanding of the capabilities and challenges faced by each of the units.

Rear Admiral Antonio Braz de Souza, Commander of CTF 151, and Captain Alberto Ramos, Chief of Staff of CTF 151, met with Commander Ben Masayuki, JS Sazanami’s Commanding Officer, and Lieutenant Commander Shibata Kunimasa, JS Sazanami’s Executive Officer, to discuss strategic questions and key points regarding the triggering of future actions.

In the afternoon, members of CTF 151 had the opportunity to visit JS Sazanami, where a briefing was held on the composition of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the characteristics of the ship. In addition, the crew members led a tour of the ship’s facilities.

This visit was a clear testament to the continued commitment between Japan and CTF 151 in seeking to deter piracy and promote international maritime security, consolidating the importance of international collaboration in maintaining stability and security on the high seas.
