From Combined Maritime Forces Public Affairs

Manama, Bahrain: Commodore Asim Sohail Malik, commander of the Combined Maritime Forces’ Combined Task Force 150, recently held a virtual meeting with Rear Adm. Buddhika Liyanagamage, Director General of Operations of the Sri Lankan Navy. The conference focused on reinforcing the CMF objectives and exploring avenues of cooperation with the Sri Lanka Navy to support the CTF-150 mission to counter illicit maritime activities at sea.

During the meeting, Malik updated Liyanagamage on the Pakistan-led CTF-150’s operational activities. He underscored the importance of working together to combat threats from non-state actors.  Both sides agreed on the potential participation of Sri Lanka Navy assets in CTF-150 operations, noting that working together is vital to disrupting narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities in the North Arabian Sea. Malik also expressed support for Sri Lanka’s upcoming command of CTF-154 and wished them luck in that endeavor.
