From Combined Maritime Forces Public Affairs

CTF-154 Commanded by the Egyptian Navy, hosted one of their new monthly Maritime Security Enhancement Training (MSET) sessions which focused on Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) and was executed by USCG at MET Facility.
A number of countries participated in the training in addition to the combined task forces within CMF: We also had member from the Bahrain Naval Forces, the Bahrain Coast Guard and The Saudi Coast Guard This exchange is a familiarization of maritime law enforcement procedures and fundamentals. The training focuses primarily on reducing unnecessary risks to the Boarding Team while maximising use of effective law enforcement techniques such as: professional communications, boarding preparations and procedures, arrest and detention procedures, high risk search techniques, extensive exchange and practical exercises in subject control techniques, defensive tactics, judgmental use of force exercises and additional boarding exercises.

The curriculum built upon previous MSET events as part of CMF’s capacity-building efforts among its members and partners. The training was delivered by several subject matter expert instructors from CMF. One of the main advantages of the monthly MSET is ensuring CMF can share knowledge and experiences to better everyone’s understanding.
