MANAMA, Bahrain – CTF 154, commanded by the Egyptian Navy, hosted one of their new monthly Maritime Security Enhancement Training (MSET) sessions which focused on Navigation and safety at sea, a Firefighting and Public Affairs lectures. August 21-22

Day one was an off-base visit to Svitzer, a company who focus on safety and support at sea, their focus is on sustainable towage in and out of port. The team was able to share and demonstrate their knowledge on how they operate tugboats, safety procedures on board and man overboard drills. While the CMF team were at Svitzer, they were given the opportunity to operate their state-of-the-art navigation simulator which allows the user to experience what it would be like to pilotage a ship in and out of port.

Day two was a classroom-based training session, this included a brief from the NSA Bahrain Fire & Emergency Service and a lecture from Public Affairs. Members from CMF and the CTFs were able to take part in this training to further their knowledge.

The curriculum built upon previous MSET events as part of CMF’s capacity-building efforts among its members and partners. The training was delivered by several subject matter expert instructors from CMF. One of the main advantages of the monthly MSET is ensuring CMF can share knowledge and experiences to better everyone’s understanding.
