Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) multinational counter-piracy task force, Philippine-led Combined Task Force (CTF) 151, visited the UKMTO in Dubai on Sept. 27.

The UKMTO in Dubai, headed by Lt Cdr Douglas Bell, Royal NavyRoyal Navy, warmly welcomed Capt Mateo Carido, Philippine Navy, and Commander of CTF 151 to their office attached to the British Embassy in Dubai. UKMTO’s role is to inform and reassure the maritime industry. Bell emphasized the importance of cooperation and information sharing not just with multinational task forces but also with the 1000s of merchant vessels that transit the region on a daily basis.

Capt Carido remarked, “I really appreciate the strong support UKMTO gives to multinational task forces such as CTF 151. Regular updates from UKMTO and responding to maritime incidents ensure the free flow of commerce and save lives throughout the region. CTF151 maintains a high state of readiness and works closely with regional partners to respond at any time of the day or night.
