Commander of Combined Task Force 151 (CTF151) Commodore Aage Buur Jensen, currently embarked with the USS Halsey, visited the Russian Udaloy-class destroyer Admiral Tributs on Feb. 19 Jensen met with his counterpart in the Russian Task Force, Commander Captain Ildar Ahmerov. RFS Admiral Tributs is currently the flagship of the Russian Task Force in the Gulf of Aden, which also comprises the tanker Pechenga and an ocean- going tug vessel in support. The meeting at sea reunited the two Task Force Commanders following their initial meeting at an Anti-Piracy Seminar held in Copenhagen in 2011 in preparation for their current mission.
The Danish-led Combined Task Force 151 (CTF 151, counter piracy) is entering its third week at sea onboard U.S. guided-missile destroyer, USS HALSEY (DDG 97) operating off the Horn of Africa, Jan. 27.
Commodore Aage Buur Jensen Danish Royal Navy, Commander Combined Task Force 151 (counter piracy) met with his European Union naval colleague, Captain Jorge Manso, Commander, Task Force 465, onboard the Spanishflagship SPS PATINO Jan.19. The opportunity arose to meet face to face while the USS HALSEY, the flagship of the Danish-led Task Force, was conducting a refueling evolution with SPS PATINO. Meeting at sea is not a simple task when considering the size ofthe operations area; two and a half million square miles.
On 19 January 2012, M/V Albrouj, a Yemeni dhow en route to Somalia from Yemen, hailed a helicopter conducting operations from USS HALSEY (DDG 97) and indicated that they were in distress.
The guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97), which was two hours away from the position of the dhow, immediately responded to the distress call. USS Halsey is currently the flagship of Combined Task Force 151 conducting counter piracy and maritime security operations.
BAHRAIN – The Royal Danish Navy assumed command of Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151), Jan. 12. Rear Admiral Kaleem Shaukat of the Pakistan Navy was relieved by Commodore Aage Buur Jensen, Royal Danish Navy, at a formal ceremony onboard USS KIDD of NSA Bahrain, home of the United States 5th Fleet and of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
