Cdre Ed Ahlgren RN, Commander of CTF 150, recently visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to express his appreciation and acknowledge the continued cooperation and support of the Maritime Forces to CMF. Calling in Jeddah, he met the Commander of the Western Fleet, RAdm Sager Mohammed AL-Harbi. Their discussions were focused on the successes of the first Saudi Command of CTF 150 and the forthcoming opportunity to repeat this role next summer.
Whilst in Riyadh, he met the Deputy Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Force, RAdm Fahad Ali Al Furaidan and thanked all Saudi Naval personnel for their high levels of professionalism in achieving an average of 160 days at sea per year.
Cdre Ahlgren said, “This visit to the Royal Saudi Naval Force and in particular to the Western Fleet in Jeddah, was a good opportunity to discuss the operations and vision of the CMF with a key CMF member. The Western Fleet’s successful command of CTF 150 last year, no doubt to be repeated next year when they once more assume command, is a clear indication of the contribution the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia makes to the CMF.”
The Commodore went on to acknowledge his colleagues for participating in exercises and other Focused Operations conducted by CMF and for their continued participation and personnel support to the CMF HQ and CTFs.
Further discussions were held to develop shared understanding of the maritime security situation and the necessity for the presence of CMF in the Arabian Gulf. These exchanges of information also included sharing views on countering illicit trafficking operations and the importance to develop a professional and credible reputation amongst the many seafarers, going about their business legally or those who decide to operate outside the law. This is vital for success in the fight against illicit weapons and narcotics smuggling.

وعمليات مكافحة الإرهاب.
• قوات الواجب المختلطة – ١٥١ (CTF-151) – مسؤولة عن عمليات مكافحة القرصنة.
• قوات الواجب المختلطة – ١٥٢ (CTF-152) – مسؤولة عن الأمن البحري ومكافحة
الإرهاب ضِمْن الخليج ، بالإضافة إلى بناء التعاون بين دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي
(GCC) وقوات بحرية مشتركة (CMF) واسعة النطاق.
