During a recent visit to Yemen, Commodore Mukhtar Khan, Commander Combined Task Force 150 (CCTF 150), met the Major General Ahmed Ali Alashwal – Chief of General Staff for Yemen Armed Forces, Major General Abdullah Salem – Commander of Naval Forces and Coastal Defence and Brigadier General Ali Rasa’a – Chairman Yemen Coast Guard.
The meetings afforded an opportunity for CCTF 150 to emphasize the need for close coordination between Combined Maritime Forces, Yemeni Defence Forces and Coastguard. It was mutually agreed that the challenges to maritime security in the region can be better addressed through cooperation amongst regional countries and Combined Maritime Forces.
Yemeni leadership reflected a highly positive approach towards the activities of Combined Maritime Forces and have expressed a willingness to continue to support its maritime security operations, subject to availability of resources.
